You hear it all the time, multi-tasking is a great skill etc, but what if by constantly multi-tasking we’re being less productive? If we are constantly multi-tasking eventually something must give and that comes in the form of exhaustion, burn out and just that hazy feeling that your brain is literally fried!
If you were to take 10 minutes out of your day and think about all that you do daily what would that look like? A very long list I can bet. Here’s the thing, our brains weren’t meant to handle multiple tasks at the same time, to use our brain efficiently you should just concentrate on one task at a time and continue to work on it until it has been completed. Then move onto the next.
In creating that daily routine what you are doing is telling your brain that it’s doing a great job, you are moving forward and working towards achieving your goals.
You will notice that your stress levels will be reduced, and you won’t be so hard on yourself for not completing everything in one go. Why? because you know that you are working your way through the priority tasks and those that are at the lower level (still in your notebooks), well they’ll get done at some stage.
Instead of using your brain as a storage container to hold all this information, dump it onto paper and allow your brain to work more productively by only having to concentrate on one task at a time.
But remember the trick is to stick to that 1 list of 5 tasks per day, use your notebooks to record other tasks but do not add them to your daily list!
